I’ve decided I’m going to clean the interior of the crown vic today. It’s been a couple years since I did anything beyond wiping off the dashboard...
I once fully detailed this car inside and out - that was a couple years ago and the last time I cleaned inside. Somehow the door jambs/hinges seem to have stayed pretty clean.

Remember, you can kill almost anything with fire.

No carpet? I’m assuming former cop car? Be careful. If you clean too hard you’ll scrub down to the fecal matter, used needles, and bindles of dope.

You’ll be fine. A good powerful vacuum, an all purpose cleaner (diluted if it’s too strong), a brush or two for nooks and crannies and loads of microfibre cloths.

Some dawn on the plastics and simple green on the floor is the plan. I’ve finished vacuuming just now so it’s time to get out the bucket and actually do some work!

It is a former patrol car, still has the cut-outs in the trim for the cage and so on. I cleaned it very thoroughly years ago and got rid of the rusty needle that I found. No luck on poo or dope though (which is probably a good thing)!

Probably trying to get the smell of smoke out of a secondhand car!

Rather than introduce water or cleaner directly to the surfaces. Take a microfibre and soak it, wring it out tightly, fold it over in half and half again and spray the cleaner onto the cloth and then wipe.

Lols speaking of which I got to do mine. Nothing like having more salt inside than out. P71 life

Awesome. Those are fun and relatively solid. Other than the transmissions usually going at around 100k and random electrical issues, you should have something that can be beat on and keep going!

I have been driving it like I stole it for going on 5 years, at 198k miles right now, no issues other than a lot of deferred maintenance when I got it. Unfortunately it’s so completely rotted out from spending 16 years driving around in the salt that it is on the chopping block for replacement this summer.
The trans-at-100k issues was mainly a couple model years, I think 06-08 had issues. Otherwise they’re pretty well bulletproof as long as someone changes the fluid once or twice in their life

The rain had taken care of most of it on the outside, but they brined the roads again a couple days ago when it snowed, so I’m back to that crystalline finish instead of shiny again.

Good tips. I do try to keep things as dry as possible - since I have a bucket (not a spray bottle) I just do the first part were I wring the microfiber out very well then go to town with it.
These floors are textured rubber so they’re getting a soapy scrub brush followed up by the shop-vac, though! Sometimes it’s fun to do the right thing the wrong way.

That’s not bad at all. Good to hear it’s held up. In my experience buying a used cop car is like getting a wife from a house of ill repute...
